St Georges Urban Village and the Kettleworks

Gerald Sweeney led the delivery of this heritage led project.  The development comprises the erection of some 318 residential units on one part, including townhouses plus associated infrastructure, parking and landscaping.  The Site is within Birmingham's most important Conservation Area and in bringing forward the conversion of, and addition to, the former Kettleworks, Seven Capital Limited had to overcome significant planning and heritage constraints relating to the 140,000 sq.ft former warehouse building providing scope for over 300 residential apartments and a unique city living style offering. This is a gateway building to Birmingham City Centre and significant effort was spent in pre-application advice and public consultation in order to gain local support for the proposed demolition of significant parts of the historic building to ensure a viable scheme was achieved alongside the retention of the best heritage elements.
