Welcome
Peveril Securities and Sladen Estates are bringing forward plans to sensitively redevelop the site where Hanson House and Big City Tyres are located, on Carrington Street and Collin Street in Nottingham city centre.
A planning application for the well-designed scheme will be submitted to Nottingham City Council following this period of public consultation.
A public consultation event will be taking place on Wednesday 22nd October (4 pm – 7 pm) at Nottingham Central Library, 1 Carrington Street, NG1 7FH.
A copy of the exhibition boards and feedback form will be made available to download in the downloads section of this page.
Overview of the plans
The proposals form a key part of Nottingham’s wider city centre revival, complementing the ongoing regeneration of the nearby Broadmarsh area. Independent assessments have confirmed that Hanson House is in very poor structural condition, making its retention unviable. Redevelopment therefore presents a significant opportunity to bring new life to this prominent site, supporting the city’s ambitions for growth and renewal.
The proposals will deliver 329 purpose-built student bedrooms, predominantly self-contained studios. Alongside meeting the strong demand for well-managed student accommodation in the Nottingham, the scheme will offer a comprehensive range of shared amenities – including study and quiet rooms, social lounges, exercise facilities, cinema and gaming rooms – as well as an enclosed roof terrace providing views across the city.
This high level of breakout and amenity space is designed to meet the needs and expectations of today’s students, creating a modern development with state-of-art facilities.
The design approach is carefully informed by the site’s heritage and surrounding townscape. Active ground-floor frontages and enhanced public realm connections will help strengthen links with the surrounding area, contributing to Nottingham’s wider ambition and vision for a vibrant and accessible city centre.
