CarneySweeney is acting as Elements Green's Consenting Lead on its Penllerager Solar Park project in Swansea. The 101ha site lies on the edge of Penllergaer Forest approximately 8 km to the northwest of Swansea.
The proposal includes ground mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) panels capable of generating circa 40MW. The proposal has the potential to provide enough clean, affordable energy to meet the power needs of over 14,000 homes while avoiding more than 16,000 tonnes of carbon emissions every year and would make a significant contribution to the Welsh Government's target to meet 100% of its electricity needs from renewable sources by 2035.
The project is a Development of National Significance (DNS). Following two consultation events held for residents in early 2025, the application was submitted to Planning Environment Decisions Wales (PEDW) in April 2025.
