This is one of Birmingham's key strategic place making developments - recommended for approval in January 2019. Connaught Square lies near to the Birmingham Smithfield's Site. Gerald Sweeney worked closely with the City's Design, Heritage and Planning Officers, as well as the City's leadership team and strategic stakeholders in the delivery of the Place Making proposal. The scheme comprises 770 residential apartments, which includes a 28-storey landmark tower, commercial and retail floorspace, a community gym and a boxing club. The development will also deliver extensive public realm works, a new riverside walkway and a terrace along the River Rea. The scheme was recommended for approval by Birmingham City Council in January 2019. CarneySweeney continues to advise on the future delivery of the project.
